in 2007 to
Eudore Chevrier (Avandale), Canada

On behalf of the IESSC, IESSC-Canada is proud to present a Posthumous,International English Springer Spaniel Award of Merit, to Mr. Eudore Chevrier (Avandale) for his contribution to the establishment of the English Springer Spaniel breed in Canada. Mr.Chevrier was inducted into the Field Trail Hall of Fame in 2003.

The Springer Spaniel by Maxwell Riddle, credits Eudore Chevrier with "the spectacular rise of the springer in Canada", "Mr.Chevrier and his Avandale kennels have imported and bred more springers than any other man or kennels in the western hemisphere". Beatrice Brown's The English Springer Spaniel in North America, states that of all "early breeders in North America, Chevrier (whose kennel name was Avandale) led all others in number of imports". She states that a typical year for Chevrier, he imported fifty springers. Mr.Chevrier was also one of the founders of the original English Springer Spaniel Club of Canada, the first English Springer Spaniel Club in North America (Canada). Anna Katherine Nicholas acknowledges in her book The Book of the English Springer Spaniel that unlike the development of most breeds in North America was the "Canadian fancy that discovered the breed's talents and virtues" and is greatly responsible for the development of the English Springer Spaniel breed in North America.
