The International English
Springer Spaniel Symposium Committee (IESSC) was formed as an
independent consortium of English Springer Spaniel
Breeders and Judges to help promote education, information
and co-operation between breeders, breed clubs and judges
of the English Springer Spaniel breed worldwide. Since
2003 the IESSC has held 7 Symposiums around the world -
two in the United States of America, two in Sweden and one
each in Australia, Canada and the United Kingdom.
The aim of the IESSC is to
form a committee or working party in their respective
Countries, to co-ordinate the holding of Symposiums on a
worldwide basis. Where possible co-operation with Breed
Clubs in the Country is sought, but it must be understood
that the IESSC is neither about taking over the role of
Breed Clubs nor "stealing their thunder". We are simply a
group of devoted English Springer Spaniel Breeders, who
have the expertise, time and desire to give something back
to the Breed that we all treasure.
The IESSC together with its
partners have donated over $10,000 to various health
foundations that provide significant research to identify
DNA markers related to diseases that affect the English
Springer Spaniel. Some of our past beneficiaries have
included the AKC, ESSFTA Health Foundations, ESS Club of
Sweden Breeder Education Programs and National Rescue
Programs in the USA and in the UK.
